Grading Scale for 25 Questions
On a 25-question test, each question is worth 4%, so every wrong answer lowers the score by 4 percentage points. That is typical of a weekly quiz or spelling test. The chart below shows the percentage and letter grade for every possible score, from 25 right down to 0.
Letter grades on a 25-question test
This summary uses the standard plus/minus scale (A from 93%, A− from 90%, B+ from 87% and so on down to D− at 60%). For a plain scale, an A needs 23 right (miss up to 2), a B allows 5 misses, a C allows 7, and a D allows 10.
| Grade | Right | Wrong | Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| A+ | 25 | 0 | 100% |
| A | 24 | 1 | 96% |
| A− | 23 | 2 | 92% |
| B+ | 22 | 3 | 88% |
| B | 21 | 4 | 84% |
| B− | 20 | 5 | 80% |
| C+ | No possible score on a 25-question test | ||
| C | 19 | 6 | 76% |
| C− | 18 | 7 | 72% |
| D+ | 17 | 8 | 68% |
| D | 16 | 9 | 64% |
| D− | 15 | 10 | 60% |
| F | 0–14 | 11–25 | 0–56% |
Because each question is worth 4%, one letter grade can’t be reached at all on a 25-question test: C+. Scores jump straight over that range. If that matters for your grade book, use half-point scoring in the EZ Grader (Settings → Half points).

Borderline scores to watch
No score on a 25-question test rounds up into a higher letter grade, so your rounding policy never changes a grade on a test this size (standard plus/minus scale).
Compared with a 24-question test, where each miss costs 4.17 points, a miss here costs 4 points, so every answer matters a little less.
